Why Printmaking Works: The Institutional Case for the Printed Image
Thursday, June 26th, 2025 – 8pm (EDT)
Join Miranda Metcalf (Hello, Print Friend) in conversation with Platemark podcast host and former Baltimore Museum of Art curator Ann Shafer for a deep dive into why printmaking makes sense for institutions.
From its accessibility and technical richness to its power for education and engagement, printmaking offers museums, universities, and cultural organizations a uniquely versatile and resonant medium.
We’ll explore how print fits into institutional missions – across collections, exhibitions, and public programming – and why it remains essential in today’s art world.
Printmakers will gain valuable insights into how to communicate the value of their work when approaching institutions for collaboration, acquisition, or support.
An essential talk for: gallerists, museum staff, art historians, and ambitious printmakers!
Please pre-register using the button below. You will then receive an email by the 26th with the event link. You must be logged in to your SGCI account and be up to date on your membership to access the registration.
