Assistant Professor in Printmaking
University of Central Arkansas
The Position:
The Department of Art invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Printmaking for a tenure-track appointment to begin August 2015. Responsibilities include teaching three studio courses in printmaking, foundation drawing, or design per semester, as well as directing advanced undergraduate research. Other duties include advising, committee work, and service. Candidates are expected to be active in the profession.
The Department of Art in UCA’s College of Fine Arts and Communication offers the BFA in Studio Art with emphases in ceramics, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture and the BA in Art with emphases in art history, art education, and fine art. The department has approximately 170 art majors, fourteen full-time and five part-time faculty, an active visiting artist program, and endowed scholarship funds of over one million dollars. The university is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should have an MFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Printmaking (MFA in Printmaking preferred); experiences teaching both traditional and alternative processes, as well as teaching foundation courses; a preference for working with non-toxic processes; an ability to guide students technically and conceptually; and a professionally active record of achievement. Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.

The Community:
UCA is located in Conway, Arkansas, a thriving city of approximately 60,000 in central Arkansas, and thirty minutes from Little Rock. Conway is home to several major industries, two private colleges, an excellent public school system, and strong private K12 schools. Residents have easy access to the Ouachita and Ozark National forests and pristine wildlife areas near the Buffalo National River.
