Adjunct Faculty – Printmaking, Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State Universit
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, MI prepares artists and designers to make an impact through practice. Responsibilities for a KCAD adjunct faculty member include syllabus and class preparation, instruction during scheduled course time, providing reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s), and evaluation of student performance.
The BFA in Printmaking at KCAD emphasizes traditional printmaking practices and an increasing emphasis on alternative and combined printmaking techniques as components in the advanced exploration of printmaking.
Teaching assignments within the BFA Printmaking Program include Introduction to Printmaking, Screenprinting, Papermaking, Lithography, and other courses that incorporate both digital and traditional printmaking practices. Position Type: Faculty – Temporary & Continuing Required Education: MFA in Printmaking or related area Required Work Experience:
Evidence of ongoing scholarly and/or creative activity including an active exhibition record on a regional, national or international level and/or presentations to regional/national/international professional, creative, or scholarly organizations
Evidence of critical engagement with learning artists
Required Licenses and Certifications: Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:
Evidence of and engagement in printmaking
Experience with and knowledge of hand Papermaking including use of Hollander beater
Knowledge of digital processes and software as related to printmaking
Teaching experience at the college level
Prepare syllabus and class according to college standards and distribute syllabi.
Teach appropriate course(s) as assigned.
Assess and evaluate student learning and provide formative feedback throughout the course.
Provide reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s).
Evaluate student performance.
Contribute to the college’s continuous improvement.
Maintain effective communication with students and colleagues.
Work collaboratively with faculty, students and staff throughout the college.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in printmaking processes such as Intaglio, Relief, Screen Printing, and Lithography
Ability to engage in evidence-based assessment
Cover letter including interest and qualifications, including a discussion of critical engagement with learning artists if applicant does not have teaching experience at college level.
