The Department of Art & Art History in The College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Primary responsibilities include instruction and research along with student advising, curriculum development, and service on departmental, college and university committees. Additional responsibilities include leadership and on-going development of the printmaking area, oversight of budget and materials, and studio maintenance. The appointee will teach five courses per year and is expected to maintain an active professional studio practice. The appointment will begin August 16, 2018.
MFA degree in studio art with expertise in the theory and practice of historical and contemporary printmaking. Applicants must demonstrate competence in a range of printmaking processes such as etching, intaglio, lithography, screen, relief, and digital printing. Outstanding candidates will have an active exhibition record, a sustained creative research practice in printmaking, evidence of effective teaching as instructor of record at the college level, knowledge of non-toxic and sustainable materials and processes, and strong written and interpersonal skills. Ability to teach beginning through advanced printmaking, Drawing 1, and 2D design. Additional capability to teach some of the following general courses on rotation with other studio faculty: Professional Studio Practices, Orientation to Art, BA capstone, and a cross-disciplinary BFA Critique seminar.
