The Department of Art at Boise State University is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor in drawing and painting beginning fall 2018. We encourage candidates whose work and pedagogy challenge ideas of drawing and painting to include global perspectives; relational aesthetics; time based, digital, spatial, and/or interdisciplinary inquiries; or other new practices. The ideal candidate has interest in participating in a vibrant and growing MFA Program.
Teaching responsibilities include 3 courses each semester. Active participation in the graduate program accounts for one of the courses per year. The candidate will be expected to teach all levels of drawing and painting courses. Some courses that are outside of the drawing and painting area are a shared responsibility of the full faculty. An ideal candidate would be able to teach undergraduate seminar and studio seminar, as well as graduate critique and theory courses.
Excellence in research and a growing presence within the field is expected. Support for research is provided through financial commitment from the institution and being part of a peer group of active artists. Service is vital to the health of the department and a shared responsibility among full-time faculty.
