The Department of Art, College of Arts and Letters, at the University of Tampa invites applications for TWO tenure-track appointments for Assistant Professor in Art, beginning August 2017.
The University of Tampa is a medium-sized comprehensive, private university that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners. The University offers more than 200 areas of study, including majors in our colleges of Arts and Letters, Business, Natural and Health Sciences and Social Sciences, Math and Education and 12 master’s programs.
The positions will contribute to the BFA in Art, Digital Art, and Graphic Design curricula. The Department seeks inspiring, knowledgeable and enthusiastic artists with a specialization in either printmaking or photography who are committed to the foundation experience as an essential component of an undergraduate education.
Teaching load is 12 semester hours (3 four-credit classes) in a 15-week semester. Teaching responsibilities range from introductory to advanced levels with primary responsibility to contribute to the foundations program and assume a leadership role in an evolving foundations program to help revise and integrate new technologies into the Foundations courses. The candidate must be able to maintain an open-access printmaking or photography studio, instructing and advising students in the proper use of equipment and materials, and ensuring their health and safety.
The successful candidate will join a department of eight full-time faculty, committed to excellence in teaching and fostering a strong research culture. The faculty must be committed to engage collaboratively with colleagues within the Art Department as well as across disciplines.
Must have an MFA degree, and a national and/or international exhibition record. The candidate must demonstrate scholarly and professional activities that make a significant contribution and reflect a high standard of excellence in teaching, research, and pedagogy. The successful candidate is required to maintain office hours, advise students, provide service to the college, university, community, and the profession, and perform all other duties as assigned.
