Assistant Professor of Studio Art: University of Arkansas
Responsibility for teaching lower and upper level undergraduate classes in the art and art foundations program. Other duties will include advising; on-going curriculum design and review; scholarly/creative activity; professional development; advising; and service to the department, college and university. The position reports to the head of the Art Department.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teach lower and upper level undergraduate classes in the art and art foundations program.
Art and art foundation curriculum evaluation and planning.
Advising students assigned by the department head and college dean.
Recruitment and retention
Participation with regard to student learning outcomes and national accreditation.
Attendance and participation in all faculty and administrative meetings, Student Research Symposium, commencement ceremonies, and other meetings/events as required.
Engage in professional and creative/scholarly work to remain current in the field of studio art as required for promotion in rank.
Support of the student organization and related events to include time and travel for education and competition as needed.
Maintains strong working relationship with faculty and staff.
Service to the department, college and university.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:
Thorough knowledge of one or more of the following studio art subjects: painting, drawing, and/or printmaking, as demonstrated with portfolio of work.
Proficiency in delivery of instructional materials.
Proficiency with student project assessment.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Proficiency in the maintaining and organizing of art studios and equipment.
Utilizing safe studio and work practices.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Expertise with software and technology related to teaching and production of professional level studio art.
Required Education and/or Experience
MFA in Studio Art or related field.
