The Art Department at Gonzaga University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track, assistant or associate professor appointment in printmaking, beginning fall 2020. The successful candidate will teach all levels and areas of printmaking including intaglio, relief, screen printing, lithography, and digital and emerging printmaking techniques, plus other 2-D media such as drawing and/or design. The department strongly encourages applicants to apply who possess expertise in print media, particularly intaglio and relief, but who also have a working knowledge of and appreciation for experimental and/or digital processes of printmaking.
The ideal candidate will also have a knowledge of relevant issues and practices in both printmaking and contemporary art. Other responsibilities will include: maintaining and managing the printmaking studio, its equipment, and tools; working collaboratively with colleagues in a small department; participating in the senior seminar rotation; and playing a leading role in the implementation of a new B.F.A. degree in Art (pending final approval).
M.F.A. with a concentration in printmaking or relevant field at the start of the appointment.
At least two (2) years of college-level teaching experience in printmaking.
Established active exhibition record.
Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching excellence.
Evidence of promotion or contribution to an inclusive learning environment.
Demonstrated ability to teach intaglio, relief, screen printing, and lithography, as well as digital and emerging printmaking techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of digital software and technologies relevant to printmaking, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
Two (2) or more years’ experience teaching drawing in a university setting beyond graduate school.
Experience with cross-disciplinary collaborations.
