TANDEM PRESS ANNOUNCES NEW SUMMER PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP OFFERED COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE UW-MADISON ART DEPARTMENT
On the eve of their 30th anniversary, Tandem Press has partnered with faculty from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Art Department to offer, for the first time ever, a summer printmaking workshop open to the general public. This one week studio-intensive workshop will take place at both Tandem Press and in the UW-Madison printmaking studios in Madison, WI August 6-13, 2017.
Led by Tandem Press master printer Jason Ruhl and printmaking Professor John Hitchcock, 18 workshop participants will work primarily with either relief printing or screen printing methods to create their own individual printed image. Utilizing oversized print facilities at both Tandem Press and the Art Department printmaking studios, participants will also collaborate to combine their images into an impressive 4 by 8 foot exquisite-corpse print.
Participants will also have the opportunity to speak with Tandem Press Director Paula Panczenko and curators Sona Pastel-Daneshgar and Myszka Lewis about Tandem Press’s 30-year history, the 80+ artists that have made prints in the Tandem studio, and how Tandem Press operates as an internationally recognized print publisher and gallery.
At the end of the workshop, participants will leave with prints of their individual image, a print from the oversize collaborative project, and a Tandem Press print workshop certificate.
Anyone over the age of 18 years is eligible to participate. Registration for this unique workshop is $1,000. This fee will cover all materials, transportation between Tandem Press and the UW-Madison Art Department, daily lunches, and opening and closing workshop receptions. Housing is not included.
