Visiting Assistant Professor of Fine Arts — Hampden-Sydney College
Hampden-Sydney College seeks a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor for drawing, painting, and design studio classes beginning fall 2018. The successful candidate will help supervise thesis projects, and be encouraged to develop studio and seminar courses in his or her area(s) of interest. Teaching load is seven courses a year.
Candidates must evidence a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal-arts education and a strong desire to contribute to an evolving arts program. We seek a colleague whose teaching can integrate traditional studio craft with digital technologies and who is able to foster interdisciplinary connections both in the Fine Arts Department and across the College as a whole. Additionally, candidates must possess organizational skills (evidencing the ability to maintain drawing and painting studios, assist with maintenance of the design studio and digital lab, and the administrative tasks within the Fine Arts Department). Teaching experience, ideally in a liberal arts setting, and an MFA are required.
