Display of Prayer Flags at Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, Campo del Morro, Bario Ballajå, Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico Fri, Apr 3 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
With the postponement of the conference due to the COVID19 virus, the Prayer Flags for Puerto Rico project will go on through the mail. You are encouraged to use The Prayer Flags for Puerto Rico Facebook Group site to upload images of you working on the project.
Each submission will be comprised of 20 flags (each 11 x 15 inches) printed on fabric (in 1 or 2 colors). Participants will receive a randomly collated set of 10 flags in return, with the remaining flags to be gifted to public service agencies in Puerto Rico. Recipient organizations are working with include Hispanic Federation of Puerto Rico, P.E.C.E.S., MATRIA and Taller Salud.
Advice on Sewing Rope Sleeves: All flags should have a sleeve for the rope sewn into the top inch of the 11-inch side. To create the top sleeve, we find that it is easiest to machine sew from the back side with a running stitch reinforced on each end. By placing one flag adjacent to the next, one can sew in a line without cutting the thread between each flag, and then separate the sewn flags after they all have their sewn rope sleeves.
Flags (and a Participant Information Form linked below) should be received by July 1, 2020, and mailed to:
