Our vision for this session is to continue to examine the relationship of our Queerness to our artistic practice, and examine how this shapes our community at large. For us, they are closely connected. Our practices are related, with Mercy’s comprised of prints taken from images inside local Queer bars & the significance they hold within our community, while DeRuvo’s focuses on images of Queer relationships & their intimacies.
Queer Space is asking local LGBTQIA artists to speak on their experiences as printmakers living & creating in Puerto Rico. Attendees will hear about the diverse art our community creates, centering the experiences of local printmakers. We will be digitally displaying presenter’s artwork throughout the session.
The second half of Queer Space will be an open discussion for participants to connect, share their art, concerns, & create supportive relationships.
We will close with the setting of an intention created by the collective and establishing an online forum.
