Print Pública will connect 10-15 artists with a Puerto Rican organization working in the social or public health sphere to create silkscreen posters that respond to the public messaging needs the organization identifies. This exhibition is inspired by the public print work that came out of Puerto Rican organizations such as the El Taller de Gráfica del Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña and the internationally renowned poster production of DivEdCo (División de Educación de la Comunidad. Posters will be tabloid size and any included text will be in Spanish-English or Spanish only. Coordinators Jade Hoyer and Angela Sprunger will engage with area nonprofit organizations that would be interested in, and have use of, an arts-based community campaign. Hoyer and Sprunger both have experience facilitating community partnerships, and Sprunger is the current assistant director for the Ohio University Center for Collaborative Arts, which fosters art partnerships in the Ohio River Valley.
