Host your own!
Open Call for Virtual Events!
Do you have an idea for a panel, an open forum, a paper presentation, or a demonstration? Are you nervous about presenting at a conference, but want to get your ideas out to our membership? A virtual event may be the forum for you!
What’s the advantage of a Virtual Event?
- Addressing an audience via Zoom allows you to be sure everyone can hear you and see what’s going on.
- Plus everyone is used to technical difficulties on Zoom so you’ll have super patient viewers!
- If you, or your audience wants to return to your talk, we’ll have it hosted on the SGCI YouTube channel.
- If this is your first time presenting to the membership it will be great practice for leading at a conference.
What dates are available to present?
Thursday, May 7
Friday, June 12
Wednesday, July 15th
Typically events have run in the evening, starting at 7 or 8pm Eastern. Include a specific time in your pitch if you have a preference!
How do I submit an idea?
Please email your pitch, with the subject line “Virtual Event Open Call” to help@sgcinternational.org
Choose the category of presentation you’re pitching (panel, forum, paper, or demo). Provide a brief (>100 words) description of what you want to present. This will be used for promotion of the event on social media.
Please indicate your preference for presentation date (rank the dates above 1-3, with 1 being your most preferred date).
If you’re proposing a panel please provide your panelists’ names and credentials. If you want to do a demo, please explain where you’ll be presenting from, with the understanding that you are responsible for acquiring studio space and all material costs.
Please attach a single PDF with the following information:
- Name and contact info
- Website and/or social media handle
- A brief bio and artist statement (>100 words each)
- Three images of your artwork, or a writing sample if you’re a scholar
- Your pitch, as described above
If you have questions, or want guidance on your submission, please email help@sgcinternational.org
The SGCI Board will then review your proposal and respond promptly. Please submit proposals by April 5th, 2026 for consideration for this round of calls.
