SGCI Awards and Fellowships! Nominate Yourself or Others: Deadline May 1st, 2022!

Applications are Now Open for the Following Awards and Fellowships:

SGCI Emerging Printmaker Award

The SGCI Emerging Printmaker Award is given annually to an early-career artist who exhibits outstanding promise in their contribution to the field of printmaking with demonstrated excellence in their own creative work. Nominations are solicited from the SGCI membership and accepted by the SGCI Awards Committee. The SGCI Awards Committee selects three finalists with a final vote from the SGCI membership. The recipient is invited to attend the annual conference and be presented with the award at the banquet ceremony. The recipient is featured at the conference as a panelist on the SGCI Awards Panel or is otherwise honored, as the host institution desires. Nominate yourself or others here!

SGCI Mid-Career Printmaker Award

The SGCI Mid-Career Printmaker Award is given annually to a mid-career artist who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of printmaking with demonstrated excellence in their own creative work. Nominations are solicited from the SGCI membership and accepted by the SGCI Awards Committee. The SGCI Awards Committee selects three finalists with a final vote from the SGCI membership. The recipient is invited to attend the annual conference and be presented with the award at the banquet ceremony. The recipient is featured at the conference and presents a lecture or is otherwise honored, as the host institution desires. Nominate yourself or others here!

SGCI Student Fellowships

Fellowship recipients will be awarded a fellowship to produce a body of work: one undergraduate of $500 and one graduate award of $1000. At the conclusion of the fellowship, recipients will need to provide the SGCI Archives with digital documentation of the work produced under the auspices of this fellowship. Student fellows will be expected to participate in the SGCI Awards Panel and have an exhibition at the following year’s conference. If a nominee is not selected for an SGCI fellowship they can be considered for a Gambin Award or Awagami Paper Award. Nominate yourself or others here!

Gamblin Awards

Each year, Gamblin presents awards to SGCI members who use their materials in their standard practice. Awards are given in the amount of $150, and are sent in the form of award certificates, either shipped directly to the winners by Gamblin or distributed by SGCI. Nominate yourself or others here!

Awagami Paper Award

This award is presented annually to an outstanding student who best demonstrates the use of paper as an integral part of their printed works. The award of 100 sheets of ‘Awagami Editioning’ washi papers will be shipped directly to the winning student by Awagami Papermill in Japan. Nominate yourself or others here!

Excellence in Teaching Printmaking Award

The SGCI Excellence in Teaching Printmaking Award is awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to teaching printmaking and has demonstrated excellence in their own creative work. All qualified nominees will be considered regardless of academic rank, grade level, educational setting or institutional affiliation. Nominations are solicited from the SGCI membership and accepted by the SGCI Awards Committee. The SGCI Awards Committee selects three finalists with a final vote from the SGCI membership. The recipient is featured at the conference as a panelist on the SGCI Awards Panel or is otherwise honored, as the host institution desires. The SGCI Excellence in Teaching Printmaking Award is presented at the banquet ceremony with a plaque inscribed with the name of the recipient, the award, and organization’s name.
