2026 Annual Juried Members’ Exhibition Prospectus

The SGCI 2026 Juried Members’ Exhibition will recognize and celebrate the artistic achievements of our outstanding membership of printmakers from around the world. SGCI encourages submissions from emerging and established printmakers who use traditional and innovative printmaking techniques.

Location: Christine DeVitt Exhibition Hall of the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts in Lubbock, Texas.

The exhibition is co-sponsored by the School of Art at Texas Tech University. TTU’s printmaking program, under the guidance of professor Sangmi Yoo, will host programming associated with the exhibition during the show’s run. Eligibility:

  • Submissions are limited to SGCI members. Not a member yet? You can join here.
  • Members must be in good standing at the Advocate membership or above to apply. If you need to upgrade, you can do that here.
  • Works must be created with printmaking as a significant component of the finished work.
  • All works must have been created within the last two years (2023–2025).
  • Only original works will be accepted; no digital reproductions.

Qualifying members may submit up to three artworks for $25. Additional artworks may be included for $5 each. If you’re a qualifying member, please be sure to login to begin the application process.

Artwork parameters:

  • Printmaking must play a significant role in any artwork submitted.
  • Work must be less than 48″ wide. LHUCA is pleased to offer impressive space to stretch vertically. The ceilings in the Exhibition Hall are 35 feet!
  • Artist books and sculptural works must be able to be displayed on a pedestal. No works on the floor will be permitted.
  • Prints should be framed when possible. Works on paper over 36″ wide may be hung with magnets, supplied by the artist.
  • Prints on other substrates or works with alternative methods for installation may be considered. Please be specific in your application about the hardware and/or installation requirements for the work.

Application Process (Please Read Carefully):

  1. Sign into your SGCI account
  2. Apply using the form below
  3. Input the specifications of your artworks (title, medium, size, date) in the form and hit Submit.
  4. You will receive a confirmation email reminding you to follow up by sending images that correspond to the form
  5. Send images of artwork (72dpi, 1920 pixels wide, please) to help@sgcinternational.org
  6. Up to two details may be submitted for artist books, sculptural, or installation based works.
  7. Images should be labeled to correspond to the order of artworks in the form LastName_Artwork#.jpg (eg Hernandez_3.jpg)

Timeline:

  • Submissions Period Begins: October 1, 2025
  • Submission Period Ends: November 15, 2025
  • Juror Makes Selections: December 15, 2025
  • Notifications Sent: Beginning December 15, 2025
  • Artwork Due at LHUCA: January 23, 2026
  • Exhibition Begins: February 6, 2026
  • Exhibition Ends: March 28, 2026
  • Artwork Returned: Beginning April 6, 2026

Juror:

Houston based printmaker, and Texas Tech alumnus, Carlos Hernandez.

Carlos will choose a Juror’s Prize from among the selections. An Audience Prize will also be chosen by the visitors attending the exhibition opening at LHUCA’s incredibly well attended First Friday art crawl.

Bio: The work of Houston-based serigraphy artist Carlos Hernandez has been showcased through a variety of gallery shows and projects that include the music industry, restaurant and retail design, and corporate work. Carlos is a founding partner of Burning Bones Press, a full-service printmaking studio located in the Houston Heights and has served as an instructor of Screen Printing at Rice University, Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts.

Career highlights included serving as the Artist-In-Residence at the renowned Hatch Show Print, which culminated in a show at the Haley Gallery; becoming a part of the print collection at The Smithsonian Institute and the Library of Congress; being tapped as the official commemorative poster artist for the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Carlos’ work as a visiting artist has taken him to Pratt NY, Parsons NY, New York School of Art, IPCNY, Ft Wayne Art Museum, Harvard Art Museums, University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin, Self Help Graphics- Los Angeles, Duke University, Frogman’s, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, and more.

Corporate work has included Apple, Levi’s, American Express, Miller Brewing Company, Google, Lincoln Motor Company, Live Nation, New West Records, C3 Presents, Hohner USA, and more.
